My silly server thingie whatsit says there have been
no new messages to afp since Lesley's message last
night (BC time) with the time stamp of 7:20 pm.
Ha.
Oh yes, when I have time to play, things naturally
manage to go wobbly-fart.

Now it is pretending that this is the only message
to have occurred since Lesley's previously
mentioned message.
Lesley? Are you also having reduced delivery
from Shaw?
Let me just say this about this - *wah*

I think I must be - there seems to be hardly anything today or yesterday,
I'm lacking posts to which I do have the replies, and my own posts from
yesterday aren't appearing. There's definitely something wrong at Shaw too:
my latest post yesterday was fairly early in the morning. I'll see your
*wah* and raise you an *It's not fair*!

Which one would that be? I don't even know which TZ BC
is in without getting out the atlas...
You use OE. If you see the message, hit CTRL+F3. Within
the headers, find the one that is named "Message-ID".
Post us the ID (IMHO preferrably with a "news:" in front).
The last one I have from before yours Lesley is
news:C0796D1A.46C78%brightly_coloured_blob [at] yahoo.co.uk
(if your server has it it will come up if you click on
that link), which, according to its "Date" header was
posted Sun, 30 Apr 2006 02:20:37 GMT.
Between that and your rant I have 126 postings, two of
which (within the first three) are from you.

Easy peasy - google "world time zones" and the first hit is
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
which, down the page, shows Berlin[2] as 5:07 am on
Wednesday and Vancouver (BC)[1] as 8:07 pm on
Tuesday (your last night). So, on my 28 Apr 06 at
7:20 pm (aka your 29 Apr 06 at 4:20 am) my server
went wobbly-fart.
This morning at 6:15 am (your 3:15 pm same day),
a whole pile of posts dated for 30 Apr 06 showed up.
However, I still have only read the follow-up remarks to
my restrained comment & corporate conservatism
suggestion post/reply to Stacie's posted pic on google.
The whole ensuing minor thread still hasn't arrive on Shaw.
So there went my nice block of free-time on Sunday
afternoon (your just after midnight Monday) wasted
in trying to lure known-to-be-posted posts from my
lovely Shaw. Piffle. Drat. Fie.
April.
[1] - there's a Vancouver, Washington, too. My mom
was born there.
[2] - I know you are not in Berlin (did you say "Wolfen"?)
but I think Germany is all in one time zone - no?

*Akcherlee*, it went wobbly-fart at some point between mid-morning (our
time) on 28 April and 7.20 p.m. (our time) on 28 April. I posted in the
morning and Shaw noticed that I had in the evening. This morning (about 9
a.m. our time) I found a whole lot of previously-missing posts waiting for
me, but I don't know, of course, whether they're all there. I had been
giving Shaw one last chance before writing them a stiff e-mail, and I was
quite glad that I could spare them that. So obviously the threat of verbal
violence does work and, equally obviously, Shaw are psychic.

I live if Berlin. By now 16 years.

Yes.
(Except for Mecklenburg, where according to Reuther,
everything happens ten years later. <g> )

For the same reason that I should do that rigamarole you
recommended regarding headers and footers and elbowers
and so on - because the suggestor finds it easy and the

It's always different if you're the one asking for
help, though. :o>

Mecklenburg is a state, though. (And it's a state
of mind, too. Of a slow mind, if you ask me.)

Ah. Sorry - my mistake. I wasn't originally looking
for help; I was whining.
I knew full well that it was Shaw being a big pooh
(in fact, I just today got the autonotice from the
announce group warning me that my announce
post for the Vancouver Mini Meet was being
held by the moderator for review before posting).
Shaw is often a big pooh in the newgroup area,
but last Sunday I was particularly browned off
because after much time of having no time I had
time - and no racus-fracus newsgroup to read.
So - usually when I'm looking for help, I ask
for help. When I'm whining, I'm sarcastic.
Thanks, though.
April.

So, time zone sites we know include:
http://www.worldtimezone.com/
http://www.timeanddate.com/
and, of course:
http://www.worldtimeserver.com/
They all have their own strengths and weaknesses - I like the way
timeanddate has sunrise/sunset and telephone information on the same
page, but on the other hand I like the heirarchical listing of place
names at worldtimeserver.
A site design that I think would be useful and concise would be one
featuring a satellite map showing daylight/darkness like the one at
http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/uncgi/Earth/action?opt=-p but with the
added feature that as you move the mouse pointer over the map,
information is displayed about the location corresponding to the
pointer position. As a bare minimum, this would include current time,
whether daylight saving time is active, when daylight saving time
begins/began, and when it ends/ended.
Don't know how practical or possible such a site design would be,
though.
Adrian.
